The Cinerino della Cantina Abbona is an unusual example of Viognier vinified in purity in Piedmont territory in the heart of the Langhe. The origins of the grape variety are located in the northern area of the Rhone in France where its vinification is often carried out in blend with other local grape varieties. Marziano Abbona planted the first rows of Viognier in 1991 trusting in the capacity? Of the grape variety to adapt to the continental climate of its production area with marked temperature excursions. Abbona chose the name Cinerino for this Viognier in purity to remember the large number of cinerini herons that periodically peeked out in the vineyard in question.
