Our part of the Kröver Paradies includes the Gewann (subsection of a vineyard) “Kröver Höhl”. We have this in monopoly ownership. It is characterised by special steepness, the proximity to the Moselle and an enormous proportion of clearing in the ground. Our part of the Kröver Paradies is oriented to the west, which is why in the afternoon and evening there is a great heat in this location. These properties create fascinating wines that are characterised by a special minerality.

As with a number of Müllen Wines, the aromatics and flavors here are quite distinctive and unusual, but also satisfying. Purple plum, mango, mirabelle, golden beet, moss and wet stone serve for a pronounced sense of ripeness allied to subtle earthiness and herbacity. The feel is creamy, which enhances the soothing impression delivered on a lingering finish kissed by wet stone and wood smoke.

€ 74,00 NO VAT (private collection)The 2021 Gewurztraminer Furstentum Grand Cru opens with peach compote and trails vestiges of passion fruit. The palate is sweet with Mirabelle jelly, almost creamy. This seems to have an internal combustion engine putting out peach, puffing away, letting out bursts of lemon and rose, but coming to concentrated, orange zest and peach skin finish that is just so taut and bright. The 47 g/L of residual sweetness is a fact, and the wine itself is alchemy. I have to borrow Catherine Faller’s architectural simile, noting that this wine "starts Baroque but finishes Gothic."
