The 2016 Pommard Clos des Epenots 1er Cru is a very pretty, effusive wine. A burst of sweet red cherry fruit, blood orange, mint, white pepper and cinnamon lends lovely aromatic brightness and lift to this mid-weight Pommard. Elegant and classy to the core, the 2016 is an absolute delight today, but it has plenty of potential as well. This restrained, understated Pommard is all class.

2016 Domaine du Château de Meursault Pommard 1er Cru Clos des Epenots
€ 136,00 NO VAT (private collection)
The 2016 Pommard Clos des Epenots 1er Cru offers a mixture of red and blue fruit on the nose, floral with hints of pressed violets and iris, quite pure and demonstrating very well integrated oak. The palate is medium-bodied with ripe, succulent tannin that insistently grips. Just a slight chewiness towards the finish and yet there is a satisfying degree of elegance and poise throughout this Pommard. Excellent. Tasted blind at the 2016 Burgfest tasting.
