Chateau de Meursault Clos du Chateau Chardonnay
A very beautiful Chateau with all the authentic properties of Burgundy. The vines are ideally located and planted at an altitude of 250 metres. The soil is rich in limestone on well-daing soils, which creates a rich terroir. The climate also plays a major role in viticulture. Thanks to their eastern location, the vineyards are protected from the wind by the slopes to the west. In addition, there is a large temperature difference between day and night, so that the cold at night drives the heat out of the vineyards. Ideal for the ageing process.
The 60 hectares of vineyard of Chateau de Meursault
Chateau de Meursault has a rich history and goes back to the 11th century. Today it is in the hands of the Halley family who took it over in 2012. And with the beautiful vineyards they know how to handle. The estate has 60 hectares of vineyards spread over various villages in Burgundy. They own many first-class crus vineyards, but the grapes for this Clos du Chateau come from an unassessed plot on the site.
Manual harvest for Clos du Chateau Chardonnay
The Chardonnay grapes are carefully harvested by hand after which they are de-stemped and pressed. The wines are matured both in new oak barrels (about 35 percent) and in barrels of one or two years. After a maturation of 12-15 months, the barrels are mixed with each other just before bottling. The result is a Chardonnay that appears shiny yellow in the glass. In its scent full and creamy with yellow fruit and minerals. The flavour is full and powerful with a nice deep flavour. No domination of wood flavours, but a support of the fruit aromas of grapefruit, citrus fruits and tropical fruits such as pineapple, peach, kiwi and apricot, along with light wood influences from aging in wooden barrels. A pure and Burgundian Chardonnay.
